The custom manufacturer of Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) parts and high-precision LSR 2-Shot components, will produce the component using high cavitation 48+48 cavity LSR and polyamide (PA) 2-Shot tools, one of the largest cavitation 2-Shot tools available. In the LSR 2-Shot process, LSR is molded directly onto the PA in the same tool where the PA component was originally molded. Each time the tool closes, 48 PA parts are produced and an additional 48 PA parts are overmolded with LSR.
„This component was a challenge due to its extremely tight tolerances (in the hundredths of a millimetre) and the fast time-to-market requirements. Working together with our customer, tool builders, and the selected injection molding machine supplier, we were able to demonstrate the importance of trust, competence, and clear expectations for successful, fast paced teamwork,“ said Enrique Camacho, President of Simtec Silicone Parts.
