Impact of Softener and Filler on the Rheological and Dielectric Response of Elastomer Melts

The impact of softeners (DEHP, DBP) on the rheological response of HNBR melts is discussed in the frame of compatibility and wall slip effects based on entropic segregation. The influence of filler flocculation (carbon black, CNT) on oscillatory and steady shear flow properties is described and analyzed by dielectric spectroscopy measured online in a plate-plate […] more...

Tire Technology Expo 2016: Carbon black with narrow aggregate size distribution

Orion Engineered Carbons will highlight its newly developed carbon black EB 262 with tailored narrow aggregate size distribution. The company says that the new EB 262 improves wear performance in comparison to the widely used ASTM benchmark grade N134 by approximately 10%. Furthermore, the increase in dynamic stiffness while maintaining both elongation at break and loss factor on a comparable level, is unique and a good basis for the use of this carbon black in truck and bus tread compounds. more...

(HNBR): Effects of Co-Agent, Processing Aids and Softener

Processability and Mouldability of hydrogenated Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber

Rheological properties of carbon black filled hydrogenated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) incorporated with various loadings of co-agents (Sartomer TRIM, Sartomer ZDA), processing aids (Struktol WB222 and Struktol NS60) and softener (TOTM) were determined and compared. With these chemicals, improvements in processability and mouldability of HNBR compounds are observed at different magnitudes. Struktol WB222 provides the […] more...

Free-Volume Changes in EVA Composites Studied by Positron Annihilation Lifetime Technique

The influence of different concentrations (0 - 60 wt %) of carbon black (HAF) filler on macrostructure and microstructure of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) composites was studied through electrical, mechanical measurements and positron annihilation lifetime (PAL) spectroscopy. The electrical conductivity measurements showed an abrupt increase when the concentration of HAF reaches 30 wt%. more...
