The Use of New Additives in the Processing of White And Black Filled Compounds Based On The Diamine Crosslinking System

The benefits of a new additive range for use in diamine crosslinked polymers from Schill+Seilacher “Struktol” GmbH are demonstrated. Rubber Compounds were mixed based on AEM (Vamac) – and HNBR (HP Zetpol) polymers. Struktol HT 740, Struktol HT 750 or Struktol HT 760 demonstrated different activity levels towards the surface of active white fillers and […] more...

Influence of Water on Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Silica Loaded Tire Tread Vulcanizates

The damping behavior of silica-loaded vulcanizates is significantly affected by the amount of absorbed water. It results in the formation of a new tan δ peak around -5 ~ 0 °C and an increase of the loss modulus G’’, which can be taken as an indicator for the improvement of wet skid resistance. By the […] more...

Influence of the Carbon-Silica Reinforcing Filler, Obtained via Pyrolysis of Waste “Green” Tyres on the Properties of EPDM Based Composites

The paper reports on the effect that the solid product from pyrolysis-cum-water vapour of waste green tyres (SiO2D), has upon the properties of EPDM based composites. The results have shown that in the course of pyrolysis the silanol groups over the surface of silica used as filler of the rubber vulcanizates subjected to pyrolysis are preserved in the final product of that process. more...

Influence of Silica-Polymer Bond Microstructure on Tire-Performance Indicators

Changes in the coupling agent structure in a silica-silane filler system lead to alterations of the microstructure of the silica-polymer interface and determine the dynamic properties, thus wet skid resistance (WSR) and rolling resistance (RR) of a tire tread. more...

Effect of Silica on the Performance of Natural Rubber/Poly (Vinyl Alcohol) and Starch Blend Films

The preparation of biodegradable polymer blend was made from natural rubber (NR) latex, starch solution and poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) solution by a latex-solution casting method. The swelling ratio of the polymer blend dramatically decreased as a function of silica content and NR content. more...

Effects of TESPT loading and mixing Condition on Properties of Silica-filled HNBR cured with Peroxide: Correlation of Bound Rubber Content, viscoelastic and mechanical Properties

Two different mixing conditions, i.e., normal condition (low mixing temperature/short mixing time) and extreme condition (high mixing temperature/ long mixing time), were employed for sample preparation. It was found that mixing at the extreme condition yielded significantly increased rubber-filler interaction. more...

Emulsion Polymerization of Styrene Using Silica Nanoparticles as Pickering Solid Stabilizer: Investigation of the Reaction Kinetics

Styrene was initially ultrasonicated in water in the presence of silica nanoparticles as solid particles stabilizer to induce the formation of stable oil in water (o/w) emulsion. The stabilized monomer emulsion was subjected to Pickering emulsion polymerization in the presence of potassium persulfate (PPS) as a water soluble initiator under wide range of conditions including the initiator and monomer concentrations, content of the silica nanoparticles, pH and temperature. more...

Influence of physical and chemical Polymer-Filler Bonds on Tire Wet-Traction Performance Indicators for Passenger Car Tire Tread Materials

The rubber compound used for a tire tread is a composite material of which the dynamic properties can be adjusted over a relatively broad range by modification of the polymer-filler interaction. For silica-reinforced compounds, control over the polymer-filler interaction is realized by chemical coupling of the silica to the rubber by different silane coupling agents. more...

Optimization of Mixing Conditions for TESPT Silane Treatment in Silica-filled NBR System: Correlation of Bound Rubber Content to viscoelastic and mechanical Properties

Nitrile rubber (NBR) filled with precipitated silica (PSi) was prepared with an addition of bis-(triethoxysilylpropyl)-tetrasulfide (TESPT) under various mixing conditions. As a highlight of this work, the peroxide crosslinking was employed instead of conventional sulfur vulcanization in products requiring enhanced thermal aging resistance. more...
