The expansion project will further add production capacity of 90,000 tonnes per year of hydrocarbon resin production. Work on the two new specialty units is expected to be completed in 2017, and will add about 140 jobs. Exxonmobil Chemical Company‘s senior vice president, Mr Neil Chapman, said: „Our expanded steam cracking capability at Singapore provides a platform for growth through a wide range of petrochemical building blocks.“ Halobutyl rubber is used in car tyres to retain air pressure while hydrocarbon resin is used for a variety of adhesive purposes.
