ADECA spokesman Jim Plott said the Hexpol-Robbins layoff is a „partial closing“ and all 61 workers will be cut by Jan. 31 of next year. „The reason is listed as the process is being moved to other states,“ he said. „We have not scheduled a meeting with employees at this time.“

Mayor David Bradford told The Times Daily this week Robbins employs about 120 workers in Muscle Shoals. Layoffs related to the plant‘s mixing operation could begin as early as this month, according to the report.

Hexpol acquired Robbins in 2012. In addition to the Muscle Shoals operation, Robbins has production plants in Findlay, Ohio, and Tallapoosa, Georgia. About two weeks ago, Hexpol announced the aquisition of Portage Precision Polymers, a well-known U.S. rubber compounder, based in Ohio. On Hexpol‘s website there is currently no information given about the job cuts at Robbins LLC.
