In whole, fifty people took part in the groundbreaking ceremony, including representatives from the industrial complex in which the factory is being built, President Ikeda of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, President Fujimoto of SAT, Chairman Ozcan of Abdulkadir Ozcan and many more.
Turkey, with its steady economic growth, is not only a market with a growing demand for automobile tires, but also features the geographical advantage of being strategically located near to markets in Europe, the Middle East,North Africa and Russia.
With the planned start of production at the new Turkey Factory in July of 2015, the Sumitomo Rubber Group will strengthen their supply system for Turkey and other nearby markets, and so take another big step in the expansion of our tire business on a global scale.
Sumitomo Rubber AKO Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret is a joint venture of Sumitomo Rubber Industries (80 %) and Abdulkadir Ozcan Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret (20 %) to produce and sale radial tires for automobiles. The capacity is 30,000 tires/day (by late 2019). Capital investments are approximately 500 milllion US$.
