Effect of Additives on the Physical Properties of a Biopolymer Hydrogel from epoxidized natural rubber, polyvinyl alcohol, and Starch

Novel biopolymer hydrogels were made from poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) and starch with glutaraldehyde (GA) as a crosslinking reagent. The swelling ratio of the polymer hydrogel decreased as a function of the GA content, ENR content, PVA content, glycerol content while the swelling behavior of the new polymer hydrogel increased with increasing sodium alginate and starch. more...
