Lorry – Periodic Report Summary 1

Development of an innovative Low Rolling Resistance Truck Tyre Concept

Transport sector depends on oil for about 96% of its energy needs; it accounts for 58% of the global oil consumption and 20% of GHG emissions. Latest projections on global oil use predict another increase in transportation activity of almost 90% in the next decade. Transport system will remain an essential vector for a strong economic growth: a mutation from a classical transport system to an intelligent transport system appears to be an absolute necessity: greener, safer and smarter.Weiterlesen...

Influence of Regeneration Methods of used Rubber Goods made of the Butyl Rubber cured with Phenol-Formaldehyde resin on the Properties of uncured and cured Compounds of Butyl Rubber

The aim was to modify butyl rubber (IIR) with the regenerated rubber granules (GRC-IIR) obtained from used pulverised general rubber goods made of IIR cured with phenol-formaldehyde resin. It was found that thermo-mechanical and mechano-chemical treatment of GRC-IIR is successful and such modified GRC-IIR can be used as a component of mixes containing butyl rubber.Weiterlesen...

The Tyre Industry

More than a Century of Innovation and still not Slowing Down

The Tyre Industry Industry would not be where it is today, if it was not for tyres. Mass transportation – except for trains and ships, perhaps – would not be possible. Personal transportation would not allow for the speeds we drive today. Trucks would not be able to carry the load they carry, if it was not for tyres. Planes could not lift off or land without these black donuts.Weiterlesen...

Tire Technology Expo 2016: New QR Code Tire ID Solution

Engraving 2-D QR codes on tire sidewalls is an emerging method for tracking and retrieving information about tires, especially in relation to the US Department of Transport (DoT) marking requirement. Cognex can read QR codes directly marked on the sidewalls of tires. The process produces a permanent, recessed code on the rubber surface that withstands wear and tear and can be easily read by industrial-grade, image-based barcode readers, offering advantages to manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and customers at all stages of the life cycle of the tire.Weiterlesen...

Tire Technology Expo 2016: Motors with unmatched Power Density

Bosch Rexroth has powerfully repackaged the compact series of Hägglunds hydraulic motors. The new Hägglunds CA 10 to 40 motors are far smaller and lighter, yet nothing has changed in their output. This gives them unmatched power density, with the unique ability to deliver full torque and full speed simultaneously. The new motors will extend the compact series downward to 10 Nm/bar.Weiterlesen...

Tire Technology Expo 2016: Carbon black with narrow aggregate size distribution

Orion Engineered Carbons will highlight its newly developed carbon black EB 262 with tailored narrow aggregate size distribution. The company says that the new EB 262 improves wear performance in comparison to the widely used ASTM benchmark grade N134 by approximately 10%. Furthermore, the increase in dynamic stiffness while maintaining both elongation at break and loss factor on a comparable level, is unique and a good basis for the use of this carbon black in truck and bus tread compounds.Weiterlesen...
