This aging study examined EPDM rubber waste, devulcanized by dibenzamido diphenyl disulfide (DBD) and activated with a low molecular weight EPDM polymer (LP). The amounts of curing system, DBD, and LP were varied below 200 °C in a mixer and a twin-screw extruder.

Rubber disposal challenges include pollution from landfilling and incineration, leaching harmful chemicals, and releasing toxic emissions. This study investigates using crumb rubber in concrete to mitigate environmental impact.

End-of-life of scrap rubber is an important environmental issue. Many studies have tried to develop or to improve recycling methods by means of devulcanization processes, if possible in a continuous way. In this frame, the Horikx’s theory is widely used to characterize devulcanized rubbers especially as a method to assess the degree and the quality of the devulcanization process. 

The changes of the thermal stability by gamma ray pre-irradiation on tetrafluoro ethylene-propylene elastomer was studied by the measurement of the weight change. The weight decrease curves by thermal aging at constant temperatures were straight line.

High performance elastomers based on peroxide cured EPDM have a wide range of applications. The aim of the investigations carried out using different EPDM-types was optimizing the elastomer properties by means of suitable combinations of peroxides and coagents and their concentration ratios, which requires a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms in the interaction of the crosslinking agents.

The rebound resilience according to Schob is a widely used test method. It delivers information about hysteretic losses in a rubber sample. Its success is not only related to the simplicity of the experiment, but also to the characteristic contact times and the type of deformation similar to those observed in tireroad contact.

The casting technique was used for the preparation of poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) nanoparticles at different concentrations of Fe3 O4 . SEM indicated a precise distribution of Fe3 O4 particles in the PMMA matrix up to 10 wt%. XRD reveals an increase in crystallization by increasing the Fe3 O4 content.

Rubber compounds are produced in a discontinuously working internal mixer with the addition of components such as rubber, fillers and other additives. A key factor to achieve a high compound quality is the dispersion of the filler. The aim of this study is to determine the dispersion as a function of the polymer and carbon black type.

To evaluate flow and thermal properties of thermosetting materials at pressures comparable to processing operations, a new Thermoset Capillary Rheometer (TCR) is introduced. Material viscosity is measured before curing and during curing.
