Researchers at the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) developed an automated cell for systematic characterization of polyurethane demoulding on permanent plasmapolymer release coatings under production-like conditions. The modular mould integrates force, pressure, temperature, and die lectric sensors to monitor curing and quantify adhesive and shear forces.

In the production of reactive plastics as foamed, compact, or fiber-reinforced moulded parts through batch processes, the use of release agents was previously necessary to minimize adhesion to metal mould surfaces and enable damage-free demoulding [1, 2].
