Various plastics are mostly decomposed without taking care of their post-utilization. This study aims to develop a new Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) based on such plastic waste. TPE based on recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE)/natural rubber (NR) was prepared with special attention to add sustainable filler namely kenaf fiber.

The consumption of plastic materials has been increasingly observed in our daily life, in uncounted consumer goods around us. Such increasing use has brought to uncontrollable disposal and contributes to the concern of their impact on environment. Most plastics take a period of time to degrade, possibly up to many decades. With more plastics products being disposed soon after their use, more landfills required to fill the plastics waste. The best way is to reuse it as many times as possible. However, this solution is not sustainable unless it undergoes the recycling process.
