The continuous vulcanisation is one of the most energy intensive processes in rubber processing. Optimisation potentials are identified for the common heating strategies.

Energy efficiency is one of the central challenges for European energy policy. With regard to climate protection goals, but also in view of limited fossil resources and potentially further increasing energy prices, the economical and efficient use of energy must be set as a high priority. Energy efficiency brings various benefits, such as increasing the competitiveness of companies by reducing costs and protecting the environment [1].
